On Thursday, January 10, 2019, Paul will be speaking at the First Amendment Center at Vanderbilt University on the state of the fair report privilege in Tennessee. The Society of Professional Journalists will be hosting the event, which is the first in a new “Know the Law” series. Paul’s talk will build upon recent pending cases, including Funk v. Scripps Media, pending in the Tennessee Supreme Court, and Burke v. Sparta Newspapers, in which the defendant has applied for review by the Tennessee Supreme Court. In both cases, Paul filed an amicus brief in support of the media defendant on behalf of a coalition of 14 media organizations.
